Mind the dust! I'm working on site and giving it a much-needed makeover so things will be moving around a bit, disappearing, and maybe even teleporting to other pages. Stay tuned!

I was experimenting with imagery and layers through digital collage and this is what I came up with. If these designs came on, say, reusable grocery bags or fancy framed wall-hangings, I would definitely buy one. The first one is Iron Man meets Art Deco, with the Iron Man and Avengers symbols, with an Art Deco motif and texture in the background. The second one is all of the Avengers' symbols with a texture that makes it look like pressed tin. Last but not least, Cap's shield is on a background of scale armor - in one version of the comics, his armor is scaled.
All images from generic internet image search. Credit goes to original creators. I am an ardent fan of the comics and the movies but I don't own rights to any Marvel characters. I've been reimagining movie posters and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. Four are done in Illustrator, one done in my sketchbook. The Black Panther movie poster was inspired by the recent passing of Chadwick Boseman. O Brother Where Art Thou is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the poster is a doodle that I accidentally finished. I might go back and tweak some things, but right now, I just want to admire it. All silhouettes taken directly from a vector image google search. You can click to see the posters at larger size.
I've taken *so many* pictures of flowers while out taking walks. There have been some uplifting chalk messages as well.
The spring reenacting schedule has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 crisis. I would imagine all the folks who would have attended now have a lot of time on their hands so they would do something like play frisbee. Drawn with several mismatched sets of watercolor colored pencils left to me by my grandmother. Click each image for full size.
Logo and business card design for a professional extrovert. The rest of the brand is in development.
I had the privilege of flying from DC to KY over Christmas and got to watch the Appalachians roll under me. It was a sight to behold.
Almost heaven, West Virginia // Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees // Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze Country roads, take me home // To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama // Take me home, country roads For Inktober this year, I decided to interpret scenes from a book I greatly enjoy. The book is called A Conspiracy of Kings, and it is book 4 in the Queen's Thief series by Meghan Whalen Turner about a pseudo-Greco/Roman/Byzantine country. During the first quarter of the book, the main character finds himself traveling between different areas of an estate, and I have spent hours trying to find an ideal layout of the estate's lands based on the narration, historical architecture, and how I see it in my head. I'm still not completely satisfied with the final layout, but the final version makes the most sense so far.
I love me some Art Deco and I think I'm entering my second Modernist Typeface phase. I would ask for help, but if this is bad, then I don't want to be good.
