Major Arcana
Ink on bristol.
This ongoing series illustrates characters, settings, and culture from an unpublished book written by a friend. The style and format combines two very different aesthetics that do not appear, at first glance, to be complementary: Tarot art and generic East Asiatic motifs.

Ink drawing of 0 The Fool: a figure doing a handstand in flat patterned clothes.
Ink drawing of I The Magician: a figure, face obscured by hat, with a lily stalk floating above outstretched hand.
Ink drawing of II The High Priestess: a woman in decorative cloak, looking down, with arms outstretched.
Ink drawing of IV The Emperor: the Moon Emperor, with billowing cloak and decorative headpiece.
Ink drawing of V The Hierophant: the high priest, holding a cup, surrounded by smoke from a holy brazier.
Ink drawing of VI The Lovers: a soldier and a woman, who both look melancholy.
Ink drawing of VIII Strength: a smiling soldier with a crested helmet
Ink drawing of XI Justice: a young woman with short hair in plain clothes holding a quill and sword.
Ink drawing of XIV Temperance: young woman in decorative clothes with stern expression and fists ready to fight.
