Cinco de Mayo Dance
Type of design: Print, social media, digital.
A local church held a social dance that landed on Saturday, May 5. Some know the date as Cinco de Mayo, which remembers the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Concept:
The designs emulate the bright colors of Mexican culture and the high energy of swing dancing. Alternative Designs: Star Wars fans observe May 4th as Star Wars Day (as in, "May the 4th be with you"), which then turns May 5th into the Revenge of the 5th, which is a riff of the title of Episode III. The background patterns feature the symbols of either the Empire or Rebel Alliance. The final alternative design pays homage to the Kentucky Derby, which also occurred on this particular Saturday. It features the colorful patterns of pennants and jockey silks. |
